Privacy Policy

We collect account information supplied through our sign-in provider, such as your email address, verification status, name, profile image, and a provider-specific account identifier.

We store the profile, posts, comments, reactions, follows, blocks, reports, notification preferences, poll votes, puzzle attempts, Pub memberships and invitations, and live or Pub chat messages you create while using Chesswire.

If you connect Lichess, we receive the Lichess account identifier, username, profile link, and any supported public chess title returned through OAuth. A Chess.com username may be added manually and is not independently verified by Chesswire.

We also process technical information needed to operate and secure the service, including session data, request metadata, rate-limit identifiers, error reports, device or browser information, and basic product analytics.

We use information to authenticate accounts, provide feeds and chess features, deliver notifications, personalize what you see, enforce blocks and Pub access, prevent abuse, investigate reports, maintain reliability, and improve Chesswire.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use private Pub content to advertise to you.

Your completed profile, public posts and comments, public interaction counts, connected chess usernames, and verified title may be visible to anyone, including people without an account and search engines.

Invite-only Pub names, descriptions, membership, posts, and chat are limited to authorized members or people with a valid invitation. Reports, blocks, account settings, private invitations, and account exports are not public.

Chesswire relies on service providers for authentication, application data and realtime updates, hosting, abuse prevention, analytics, and error monitoring. These currently include WorkOS, Convex, Vercel, Upstash, and Sentry. Lichess is involved only when you connect an account or use public broadcast data.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

You can edit your profile and preferences, download a JSON copy of your account data, block users, deactivate your account, or schedule permanent deletion from Settings. Deactivation hides your profile and content and is reversed when you sign in again. Permanent deletion has a seven-day cancellation period.

Some content may be retained without your identity when necessary to preserve conversation integrity, enforce safety decisions, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Security logs and backups may persist for a limited period before routine deletion.

Chesswire is not intended for children under 13. If local law requires a higher minimum age for online services, that higher age applies.

We use access controls, encryption in transit, rate limits, and monitoring, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Chesswire and its providers may process data in countries other than your own.
